The Bible

The bible is a complete work, and it is the inerrant, infallible, and inspired Word of God received via divine inspiration, and reveals the complete source of God's authority.

The Trinity

There is only one God. Within the "Trinity" or "Godhead" there are three distinct persons, who are fully God and one with one another- The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit; these three are the eternal (uncreated), infinite, and true God, with equal divinity, authority, and power.

God

God is Spirit. He is eternal (uncreated). He is infinite. He is unchangeable. As such, He is not subject to ponder, wonder, question, moods, or good days, or bad days. All of his attributes, e.g., His Sovereignty, truth, justice, holiness, majesty, power, wisdom, grace, and mercy, are eternal (without beginning or end).

Jesus Christ

Jesus Christ (Jesus of Nazareth) is wholly God and wholly Man. He has two distinct, inseparable natures; He was born via immaculate conception of the Virgin Mary (the incarnation), and lived a perfect, sinless, life, and He was crucified, died, buried in a tomb, and rose again to life three days later (the resurrection). He has ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of His Father. He is the only mediator between God and man.

The Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is fully God and is the presence of God by which we have salvation, interpretation, conviction of sin, and the presence of Christ within the believer. He gives believers their regeneration and is the impetus of their continual sanctification.

Creation

All of creation has been created by God through his Word only (out of nothing else, and by no other means). He continually maintains the universe and all that is in it.

Man

God created man (humankind) in His image. He created them man (male) and woman (female), as such, Gender and sex are non-separable. Adam's sin introduced sin and moral corruption into the world, causing all of creation to fall. This lead all of the human race being subject to now being sinful and corrupted. The punishment for this sin, is death. God is just, and requires holiness, righteousness, and perfection.

Atonement

Atonement can be made through Christ Jesus- which is God's mercy (holding off on punishment) and grace (offering a solution to judgement). Without the sacrifice of Jesus, everyone would be punished in the Lake of Fire for all eternity. However, because Jesus had made the complete and replacement sacrifice for the sin of all mankind (all humans) with His atoning death on the cross, His righteousness can be accounted toward people through faith in Him as their Lord- i.e., through belief and confession; belief that Jesus is Lord, and Confession that God has raised Him from the dead. He (Jesus) alone is the only way to salvation. There is no other way.

The Law

The moral law of God, e.g., the Ten Commandments: the 2 greatest commandments being: 1) Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength, 2) Love your neighbor as yourself. These are the requirements of behavior and faith which embody the complete standard of God for all people.

The Church

The visible church has been established through the will and commandment of Christ to go, teach, and tell all nations about the Gospel of Christ. These local corporate bodies are to be established as places in which to gather together for the teaching and worshiping of God. Additionally, churches are to submit to the authority of the scriptures , preach the Gospel of Christ, and administer the sacraments (Baptism and The Lord's Supper), while doing good works and living according to God's will and standard.

Christianity and Culture

Vision For Life Today agrees with and supports the work of Christian churches, institutions, organizations, and groups which confess what we also confess. Culturally, the scriptures are the final authority  for all definitions of human interaction, identity, and behavior.
